 Frequently Asked Questions

We try to anticipate questions you might have about our Boat Rentals and provide the answers here. If you need additional information send an email to info@lanieraquarentals.com.

1.    How old do you have to be to rent a boat?
You must be 21 years of age to rent a boat.

2.    How old do you have to be to drive a wave runner?
Georgia law states you must be 16 years of age to drive a wave runner. 12 to 15  year olds can drive if accompanied by an adult OR alone if  ........they have passed a boater certification course. Under 12 years old, you are not allowed to drive.

You may take a Boater Safety Education course to obtain a Boater Education Card by visiting the    following site: http://www.georgiawildlife.com/node/410

3.

Do you supply life preservers or do I need to bring my own?

No, we supply what you need UNLESS you have special needs. Please let us know.

4.

What is your pet policy?

We have a NO PET policy.  We are pet lovers too. And we did not start out this way...

5.

Can I fish from your boats and do I need a fishing license?

Yes, you can fish from our boats. You take the chance of being stopped by the DNR who will issue you a ticket if you are caught fishing              ....without  a license. The licenses are cheap- don't take the chance- particularly if you are a repeat offender. Go to this link                                  .....http://www.gadnr.org/ to get a  license online or to a Walmart or Kmart. Bait is available locally.

6.

Can we drink alcohol on the boat?

Yes, if you are not the driver. You must have a designated driver who remains sober. The DUI rules that apply to cars apply to boats too.

7.

Can I grill on the boat?

No, but you can grill at a local Day Park or a beach. To the North of us is Old Federal Campground and to the South of us is Van Pugh Park.   ...Both are open seasonally and make a good place to take your boat if you are extending rides to many family members. We can direct you to ...either location. In addition, there are many other Day Parks on Lake Lanier.

8.

Where can people that are joining us launch their boat?

...There are many boat ramps on Lake Lanier. We have a boat ramp we suggest right inside Aqualand Marina. The Marina will charge you $5.00 ....for use.

9.

Will you teach me how to drive the boat?

...You will be met at the dock by a Lanier Aqua Rentals employee who will instruct you about boat usage and safe boating practices which ...includes recognizing lake markers and boating etiquette. Please listen carefully as you can be cited by the DNR  for disobeying  the rules.

10.

What will prevent me from getting lost?

Each rental boat has a map of the lake. If you do get lost please give us a recognizable landmark or marker number to better assist you. And ...don't forget to give us any new cell numbers if the cell phone you are carrying is different from the one you gave us upon reserving. ...Designate a co-pilot who knows where you are at all times.

11.

I do not want to be responsible for driving the boat. What do I do?

...We offer a First Mate service for $150 a day or $25 per hour. They will do all the driving. If watersports instruction is desired that is additional.

12.

Who pays for gas and how much will it be?

The renter pays for gas by refueling upon return to the Aqualand gas dock. They do take credit cards. If the gas dock is closed or  the rentor   ...chooses not to refuel there is an $10.00 service fee added to the boat rental/gas charges and billed later. You can estimate gas usage at ...roughly 5 gallons an hour. Waverunners and ski boats use more gas than pontoon boats.

13.

Do you rent waterskis and other toys?

Yes, but only with boat rental. We offer adult and chid waterskis, kneeboards and tubes. Each item is $25.00 and the charge is added to   ...your rental fees. Please let us know what you want in advance so it can be ready for your rental. Pontoon boats will not pull waterskiers but ...can pull tubes. Waverunners are not allowed to pull anything!

14.

What is your confirmation/cancellation policy on boat rentals?

We consider your boat rental reservation confirmed when you reply that you accept our conditions on our email confirmation form. You must    cancel in writing (email or fax) 7 days in advance. If you do not you will pay the rental fee. If conditions exist for more than 30 minutes which   ...prevent boat usage (anything deemed unsafe by LAR- high winds, heavy rain, lightening, tornado warnings, etc.) you will be called on your ...cell phone to return to the dock and issued a gift certificate good for comparable time lost. This gift certificate is good for one year and is ...transferable to another party.

15.

If we are renting a cabin and renting a boat from you can we bring it to the dock at Lake Lanier Lodges?

...Certainly. Any party renting a cabin gets a 10% discount on their boat rental as well. If arrangements are made in advance we will even ...deliver it to the dock at Lake Lanier Lodges for you for  a small fee.

16.

Do you deliver/pick up boats elswhere on the lake?

Yes, we do. We must have your location, date of rental, and boat type before we can quote a price. Customer pays for gas to and from ...locations for all boats involved in delivery in addition to delivery fee.
